The volcanic soil in Murang'a county has allowed for the cultivation of some of the most prized coffees in Kenya. Located to the southwest of the Great Rift Valley, the elevation for the coffees around the New Irati Factory is ideal for growing traditional Kenyan varietals such as SL-28 and SL-34. When combined with the exemplary sorting done at the mill, coffees from the over 1200 members of the Kangiri Co-Op result in consistently clean cups with bright acidity, excellent body, and syrupy sweetness.
